I love Black & White photographs. I love looking at them and I love taking them, but sometimes color is the right way to go. This couldn’t have been more true than for this recent maternity shoot. Ashley, the gorgeous expectant mom and owner of the fantastic Creative Seeds is only half way through her pregnancy, but she wants to make sure to record this special time along the way… and this isn’t her first baby either!
As a Los Angeles maternity photographer most expectant moms come to me in their third trimester. Well, what a change it was to take maternity photographs so much earlier in the pregnancy. Ashley was able to literally dance around with joy. She’s a trained dancer, so I think it was very appropriate to capture the anticipation and exuberance with movement, as you see her new bump slowly emerging.
My favorite shots of the session were all about color. There are some people you meet who seem to emanate sunshine, Ashley is one such person. I knew the moment I noticed the saturated turquoise wall up the street that there would be a time to use it and this was indeed the time. You can not only feel the sun shining on her, but also feel the nurturing warmth shining out of her. Color was the only way to go!
