I love babies, I wouldn’t be a family photographer otherwise. But lately my baby has been giving me a hard time and breaks into crying/screaming for no apparent reason and I have been getting little precious sleep. So, it was wonderful to spend some time with a lovely newborn boy who just seemed perfectly content and at peace with the world.
His mom and dad are friends with a number of clients I have photographed in the past. The husbands all hail from the same university in Canada and together with their wives have formed a tightly knit community of friends. As most of the couples are transplants for other parts of the country and world, I think it’s wonderful that they are so close and able to offer each other support and advice during life’s big milestones, such as the arrival of a new baby. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Together, they have formed a micro village that makes living in a big city like Los Angeles, so much more accessible and personal.
As I look at these quiet pictures of baby sleeping, I cross my fingers that I too will someday (in the not too distant future) reclaim my slumber.
N.B.: My little one does appear to be teething, so according to articles his fussiness may be attributable to that… but my older son never gave me such grief, so I’m still in shock… hence my sporadic blog posting.
