PARENTING: Lasting Memories

Summer is here and for many that means going on a family vacation and in some cases a stay-cation.  Whether going far or staying close to home, summer time seems to find us taking it down a notch and making a greater effort to plan fun things with the kids.  In our case we are planning to take a couple of weeks off to take my son to France to see family.  Now that he’s old enough to absorb what’s happening around him I’ve been trying to rack my brain on how to help him capture memories of spending time with his cousins.

I came across the perfect solution over at Darling Clementine a lovely blog from the people behind  Clementine Art a great line of eco-art products for kids, with inspirational ideas on how to encourage your child’s creativity. It’s a personalized journal/travel journal.  Go to their post to see the simply DIY instructions:

Help your kids collect leaves, glue photos, maps, tickets, draw flowers, anything to turn this into a special memento of your time together.  For a simpler approach, buy a hardbound notebook and cover it with your favorite papers and stickers. It’s so simple, you’ll have no excuse not to make one.  Have fun collecting memories.
